Provident Money Card

  1. Will I receive a statement?
    • All home credit customers are entitled to a free detailed statement once every 3 months, which outlines your loan repayments.

To get yours, please contact us or ask your agent.

  2. Is my Provident Money Card a credit card?
    • No. Your Provident Money Card is not a credit card, which means you cannot overspend – you can only spend up to the limit of your loan.

Go to our dedicated page about the Provident Money Card to find out more about it.

  3. Where can I use my Provident Money Card?
    • You can use your Provident Money Card over the phone, on the Internet, on the High Street or at cash machines. Basically, wherever the Visa sign is displayed including:

      • Shops
      • Petrol stations
      • Restaurants
      • Supermarkets
      • Cash machines
      • Online

You can even use it abroad.

Go to our dedicated page about the Provident Money Card to find out more about it.

  4. Will my name be on my Provident Money Card?
    • No, your Provident Money card is disposable and so it is not personalised.

Once the money on your Provident Money Card has been spent simply cut the card in two and dispose of it carefully. Then speak to your agent for an additional loan/card.

  5. What happens if I lose my Provident Money Card or it is stolen?
    • You can call the Lost & Stolen line 24 hours a day, seven days a week, on 0800 032 8702.

Your card will be stopped and a refund issued for the remaining balance on your card, unless we believe fraud has taken place.

If your Provident Money Card has been used fraudulently, an investigation will take place before we decide if a refund can be issued. If the card has been used with your consent then you will be expected to repay the amount.

  6. Can I use my Provident Money Card abroad? If so, are there any charges?
    • Yes, you can use your Provident Money Card abroad where you see the Visa sign.

There won’t be any charges but your cash withdrawals and transactions abroad will be affected by the current exchange rates.

  7. Do I need a PIN number?
    • Yes, this will be given to you at the same time as your Provident Money Card.

CHIP & PIN technology makes your Provident Money Card more safe and secure. You may change your PIN number to something easier to remember at any cash machine.

It’s important that you do not give your PIN number to anyone else.

  8. What about Internet Security?
    • Internet shopping is increasingly popular and most reputable retailers operate sites that are safe and secure. We will keep your personal details safe when applying online.

If you are concerned about security, Cardwatch offer some simple guidelines to follow when buying online.
