Provident Direct

Provident Direct is a new option for repaying new Provident loans. With Provident Direct you can choose to repay your loan automatically using your debit card via Continuous Payment Authority (CPA), rather than having your rep come round each week to collect the money.

A CPA gives us permission to collect loan payments directly from your debit card. We’ll only request payments that we have agreed with you.

Normally your Rep will visit you twice initially. The first visit will be to set up your loan and the second will be to collect your first payment and set up a Continuous Payment Authority (CPA). After that they won’t have to come round to collect any other payments, further payments will be taken via your card.


For the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic, for everyone's safety your Rep will not be visiting you. instead they will make arrangements to take the first payment and set up the CPA remotely.

Once the CPA is set up, you just need to make sure there’s enough money in your account on the day your payment is due. We’ll only ever take the amount we have agreed, and we’ll only try to take the payment once each week on the day we agree with you upfront.

If we’re not successfully able to take the payment, we’ll let you know and arrange a time to discuss. If for any reason we can’t contact you, your payments will continue as agreed for a further week on your preferred date.


This also means that if any of your payments remain outstanding your account will be in arrears. Your payments may be changed to home collection if your Continuous Payment Authority (CPA) fails twice in a row.

You will need:


  • A valid debit card which is registered in your full name and address
  • An email address and the ability to open email attachments
  • A mobile phone number
  • To agree that collections may be changed to home collection if your Continuous Payment Authority (CPA) fails twice and/or this is deemed to be in your best interests
  • To agree that, under normal circumstances, service visits will be held every so often
  • To agree that all discussions relating to CPA will be subject to Voice Recording

If you take out a Provident Direct loan and realise you’d rather pay in cash each week, that’s totally fine. You can switch to weekly home collection at any time. To change, get in touch with your rep, or give us a ring on 0800 096 6064.

All Provident loans are subject to affordability, whether weekly home collected by a member of our team or via Continuous Payment Authority (CPA). Provident Direct loans are also subject to eligibility.
